I am a part of all I have met
I am excited to be launching a new website, logo and blog, with the goals of showcasing my professional services, as well as providing a forum where I can share insights and build community.
In some ways I feel like I am embarking on a new chapter. But I actually started my consulting practice, The Corcoran Network, over twenty years ago, leaving the world of corporate finance, where I had been a transactional lawyer, a government relations manager, and a business developer, to become a strategy consultant.
My journey
What I learned from my initial consulting engagements in corporate social responsibility, business-education partnerships, and youth development, led me back to leadership roles in New York City-based nonprofits, a charitable foundation, and a City University of New York community college. After an amazing Fulbright specialist fellowship at Queen’s University in Belfast this past April, I am now returning to consulting, with a renewed commitment to community engagement and a passion for transatlantic connection.
My approach
Back in 2000 when I founded The Corcoran Network, I quickly realized that my diverse work skills, experiences and knowledge were highly relevant to clients who needed assistance setting and achieving ambitious goals. LordTennyson’s beautiful line reminds us that every experience we have in the journey of life allows us to both learn from and share with others all that we encounter on our paths. I named my business The Corcoran Network in recognition of my deeply held belief that connections and collaborations enhance learning and growth.
The “parts” that I bring to my consulting include understanding of legal, financial, urban planning, government relations, partnership and public policy issues, as well as experience with strategic planning, research and analysis, program design and implementation, and organizational and leadership development.
My touchstones
In thinking about a logo design for my consulting practice, I was inspired by a stunning piece of public art sculpture by New Yorker Dan George, located in the heart of the Belfast city center. To me the piece evokes strength, resilience, energy, flow, and joy.
These are the touchstones which guide not only how I strive to serve my clients, but also how I endeavor to live my life. And if the logo happens to evoke for you movement, a globe, and travel, well that’s no accident! I am committed to finding more opportunities to learn, grow and be of service through travel abroad.
Today what inspires me is the tremendous need, in the US and abroad, for new approaches to strengthening and building the resilience of communities, and specifically helping young people achieve their full potential.
I look forward to being in touch and of service.
